New Evaluation Scheme for Class I through V
Sushil Hari has been adopting latest teaching techniques to nurture holistic development of its students. Towards
this effort, the methodology now being adopted is predominantly activity oriented for Classes I through V. This has necessitated a
change in the scheme of evaluation to be adopted for the primary classes. Students of Classes I through V are now being evaluated
on a day to day basis based on their performance in the various classroom activities instead of the traditional mid-term
and terminal examinations. Parents will surely appreciate and understand that this new process is much more tedious but is being
used with the main intent to make learning a fun and rewarding experience rather than being reduced to learning answers for
questions by rote.
- Management
Monitoring Students’ Progress
-
We have enforced the concept of
daily homework.
-
If 100 lines are taught in a day, students are given 50 short answer
questions that help them revise and remember what
they learnt in class that day. Students are given a
test in one subject every day and their scores
reveal how well they have understood the subject.
-
If a student is determined, he can have a
daily revision, and attend
his final exams with a calm and composed mind. We
have a specialized book bank for this purpose.
-
C.B.S.E. is tough but it is
application-oriented and this foundation
will help for a bright future.
Periodic examinations are
conducted to evaluate the progress of students and each
and every student's performance is monitored carefully.
If a student's performance falls below the expected
standards, rigorous additional coaching is offered on
campus to bring them up to the mark. This system clearly
identifies the subjects/topics in which a student needs
more attention and works towards rectifying it. It also
eliminates the need to attend additional tuitions
outside school and enables the students to focus on the
topics covered in the school.
The performances of
students are communicated periodically to parents
through Parents - Teachers Association meetings held in
campus.
Teaching Methodologies
Monitoring Teachers
-
An external counselor interacts with students of all classes,
receives information from them on how well their
teachers teach, consolidates the input and gives a
fact sheet to the teachers. This helps the teachers
improve their teaching.
The quality of instruction of
Teachers and the
Teaching Methodologies are also evaluated periodically through
Teacher's evaluation form. This information is used by the school
Management to provide recommendations to the
faculty on where they can be improved.
The
evaluation contains questions on subject organization, clarity of presentation, subject knowledge, teacher student interaction, grading, etc. The evaluations are kept completely anonymous and confidential. The evaluation provides an opportunity for the students to express their opinions and helps the instructor to review their teaching methodologies and improve where required.
Baba takes personal care in the development of the
students. He made a surprise visit to the Class rooms
and Conducted IQ tests for the students. The Students
were also given exercises on Précis Writing.
